Botox

Botox is a muscle relaxant that is applied in order to eliminate wrinkles and expression lines such as those found in the forehead area, between the eyebrows and “crow’s feet”. It is also used to correct some conditions such as gummy smile, bruxism and excessive sweating in the palms of the hands or armpits.

Botox is one of the procedures that should not be missing in a facial harmonization process. Get to know our GlowUp facial harmonization package.

☑️ What does botox do to the muscles?

Botulinum toxin (Botox) acts by blocking the neuromuscular plate to prevent contraction and subsequently expression lines (wrinkles).

It is also important to note that this toxin doesn’t inflame or stretch the skin, since it only restores the natural expression to the muscle.

It is a totally safe substance for application with little or no side effects, it is non-allergenic and is a fundamental pillar that will make your face look fresher and more youthful.

☑️ How long does the effect of Botox last?

Once the toxin is applied it will begin its effect after 2 days, reaching its maximum after two weeks. Subsequently these effects will be maintained for a period of 5 to 6 months depending on the patient’s care.

You can also complement the botox units with facial biostimulatory threads, a platelet-rich plasma session and a hyaluronic acid application with our innovative eternalskin package and thus obtain a more comprehensive change in the entire face.

☑️ How many units of Botox should be applied?

The number of units will depend on the severity of the problem to be treated. It can be applied at any age as long as expression lines are already evident.

The new baby botox tendencies (application of few units) are offered to young patients in a preventive way complementing with other anti-aging treatments.

The brand we use is Dysport, being one of the most recognized worldwide for its quality and efficacy. Unlike other brands, Dysport has a lower amount of proteins, which generates less predisposition to the formation of antibodies (cells that attack) to the product.

Therefore, long-term repeated applications don’t generate resistance.

☑️ What are the consequences of Botox?

The side effects of Botox are minimal with the most frequent being ptosis (drooping) in the area of application. This tends to happen mostly when applied to areas such as the eyelids in an inadequate amount or repeated movements by the patient.

As a recommendation, it is always recommended to touch the face as little as possible during the first two days after application to avoid any type of side effects. In case it occurs, it is important to mention that, once the period of action of Botox has passed, it is totally reversible.
